Marcello L. DelVecchio, 72, of Goshen passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Phelps Memorial Hospital, Sleepy Hollow, NY. The son of John and Stella DelVecchio, he was born June 27, 1938 in Nyack, NY.
He was the beloved husband of 48 years of Arlene DelVecchio (nee Davies); devoted father of Lisa DelVecchio, Theresa Pluskey and husband Scott; loving and cherished grandfather of Erick Turner, Katie, Jessica and Sara Pluskey. Marcello is also survived by his mother-in-law, Olga Davies of Austin, TX; sisters-in-law, Ruth-Carole Berry and Anne DelVecchio; aunts, uncle, nephew John, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, many cousins, many friends, especially special friends, Jeff, Maria and Nathan who were at our side throughout the past 2 years.
He was predeceased by his brother John.
Marcello, or Marcy as he was known, retired three years ago after 33 years as the proprietor of Kwik Stop Foods in the Village of Goshen. He was a member of the New Jersey and New York Farm Bureau for many years, trade organizations, and a 20 year veteran of the volunteer fire department of Old Tappan, NJ
Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 23, at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY from 5 - 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 24 at 10:00 am at John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Murray Ave., Goshen.
Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Marcello's name to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065-6007.
