First I want to express my deepest regrets in the loss of this beautiful human being. Though I only really knew her for a brief period of my life, I will never forget how gentle and happy she always was. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss, I can only imagine how much she meant to all of you and how hard this must be to accept. I will pray for strength for all of you. Best wishes forward.

Dear Louie & Eva and family,
We were both saddened to hear of the loss of your beautiful daughter Dorothea, your firstborn little girl.
I have a picture in my hand from back in 1978 from Robin's christening day at Eddie & Linda's apt. in Clifton. Dorothea and Danielle are sitting on the couch with my husband. They were the most adorable little girls with their pigtails and bows. Dorothea has her head down in the picture, she was busy with her wristwatch.
Our deepest sympathy to you both and your family. May she rest in peace and comfort now.
Sincerely, Tina and Billy Starick (Linda's sister)

I grew up next to your grandparents and your Aunt Paulette was my best friend. I remember you when you and your sisters would come and visit and the beautiful dark curls and big blue eyes. I couldn't believe when I saw you a few years back and that we lived so close. You grew to be a beautiful woman, a wife and mother. I was glad to have known you as a woman. May you rest in peace and may the peace of God be with your family now and always. Love, Philly

I am very sad that Dorothea is gone. But I am also very glad that our girls are best friends. If Josette did not meet Gianna, I would not have had the pleasure and "gift" of getting to know her Mother. She was a beautiful and loving Mother. God Bless her girls and family.

Dorothea understood that I was a person who did not have a lot to say but knew that I cared. There is one thing I can say that it was truly a blessing that she was in our family and I will remember her always.

Dee as I called her was one of the strongest woman I have ever known! She had more courage and grace, especially in her fight against cancer. Her love for her daughters and husband was eternal! She took her wedding vows seriously thru good times, bad times, and unfortunately even as she fought for life. She will always have a place in my heart as I know I had in hers~~ Till we meet again my friend.

To meet people in life who are so selfless and giving of themselves is so rare. Thea was this precvious Child of god who brought such love kindness and beauty to the world and never even knew her value to us all. I believe in heaven and really believe that she will meet my Dad again who she visited every Sunday for 1/12 yrs as he lay slowly dying. She was only 15 at the time.
She was loved and will always be loved by all of us. We will miss her so. Deepest heartfelt symapthis to the beautiful Theas daughters and family. With Prayers for healing,
Susan and Douglas Van Etten

It was with a very heavy heart that I read Dorothea's obituary this morning. I am one of the nurses at ORMC who cared for Dorothea in outpatient and inpatient. She was one of the most beautiful people inside and outside I have ever cared for. I believe love lives beyond everything, even in death. She will surely live on in the hearts of all those who loved her and who she loved. My most heartfelt thought and prayers are with her family during this very difficult time.

Aunt Dorothea and I had many memories together although I wish there could of been much more. Some of the memories I recall is when it was just her and I driving in her car and we were talking about everything that came to our minds. She told me she had bought a purple ipod for Teresa and not to tell her. I remember holding onto the car door for dear life because she was always a fast but safe driver. haha I also remember her crazy saying "Hit it girl with a curl!" Since I have curly hair, I still crack up everytime I think of her saying that. I remember a couple summers back when she and my family came upstate to enjoy tubing on the boat with us. We all had so much fun. At her house she was always so generous, telling me to go into her room and grab pajamas or blankets or anything I needed. I ran down to her bathroom accidently walking in on her and I was so embarrassed and thought she would be upset, but instead she says "It's okay! We're both woman right?" Haha Always so down to earth even with her privacy! Last month we went shopping at the mall for school clothes and she was in a wheel chair. All the kids were taking turns pushing her because it was such a thrill. I was so worried I would lose control and she would go flying down the mall! She still allowed me to push her anyways :)Some of my favorite memories was when the whole family would gather at Aunt Danielle's house and we would all break out into song and dance our most craziest moves. Mom and Aunt Dorothea always got me to let loose and "break it down now y'all!" Those are a couple of the times that come to my mind right now. But our last memory was truely something special. September 5th, approx 4:20 pm it was time for me to go home. As she held me in a hug lock, only a couple inches from her bright blue eyes and stunning face she reminded me how beautiful I was and how she knows I will go very far in life. She told me I was the best goddaughter anyone could ever ask for and that she would always love me forever. We hugged a few more times and a little kiss on the cheek. Next, she was telling me to be strong and positive and gave me quite a few high fives for she was always positive; even at her worst! I will never forget that night and I am so relieved I got to have a priveledged "goodbye" as I like to call them "See you laters!" On a more positive note, which I learned from Aunt Dorothea. I am glad I was able to tell her I admire her strength and joyful outlook on every situation. She has taught me patience, positiveness and just to simply enjoy every minute of life, be thankful for every gust of wind I can feel, every flower I can smell and every cloud I can look at. She was by far one of the best people that has ever been in my life. Anyone that got the opportunity to meet her was truely lucky. Rest in peace my lovely aunt as you deserve,'I will always love you forever!' <333
