John Wesley Ferris, 66, of Goshen died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
John was born August 4, 1945 in Warwick, NY, the son of the late John W. and Vivian (Casterlin) Ferris.
He was a 41 year employee at Frontier Communications in Middletown, NY as a Communications Technologist.
He was a member and former board officer of the Schawagunk Hunting and Fish Club in Middletown, NY. He often helped at the cook shack at the club for fundraising events. He enjoyed boating, fishing and the great outdoors and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Ferris at home; son, Brian of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; stepsons, Dennis DeSantis and Miranda Osmolski of Charlotte, NC and Kevin DeSantis and wife Beth of Upper Nyack, NY; sister, Flossy Otis and husband Don of New Paltz, NY; Father and Mother-in-law, Thomas and Margaret Rooney of Wilkes-Barre, PA; Grandson, Matthew DeSantis of Upper Nyack; Sisters-in-law Betsy Ferris of Circleville, NY, Patricia Galippo and husband Rick of Corona, CA, Jane Barkley and husband, Patrick of Oakland Park, FL; brothers-in-law, Tom Rooney and wife Carol of Walden, NY, Michael Rooney of Walden, NY; Bill Rooney of Abingdon, Maryland, John Rooney of Green Valley, CA, Frank Rooney and wife Tracy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his brother, Roger Ferris.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 15 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm with the Reverend David Kingsley officiating.
Burial will be private in the family plot in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
