Joan M. Fay, 78, of Seaford, DE died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ. Joan was born August 24, 1933 in New York, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Theresa (Taphouse) McGowan. She was the widow of William J. Fay. Joan retired as a Registered Nurse from Booth Memorial Hospital, Queens, NY and appeared in the Who''s Who of American Nursing in the late 1970"s. She pursued her life long love as an artist after retirement and was a member of the Rehobeth Art League, Rehobeth Beach, Delaware She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Brett-Mohyla and her husband Ostap of Sugar Loaf, NY; grandchildren; Aislinn J. Mohyla and Ian T. Brett; stepgrandchildren, Tina Mohyla, Michael Mohyla and Nicholas Mohyla; 4 loving nephews, Richard, Edward, Thomas and James McGowan. She was predeceased by her husband, William and son, Patrick J. Brett. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be on Friday, December 30 at 10:00 am at St. Stephens R.C. Church, Warwick, NY. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware on Tuesday, January 3 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in memory of Joan M. Fay to Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, 1 Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66103, these funds will be used to assist children and families in Guatemala.
