Goshen, New York
Brigid Delia Moran Apfel, 79, of Goshen died Monday, August 20, 2012 at home.
Brigid was born in Castlebar, Co. Mayo February 20, 1933, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Keane) Moran. She was the wife of Werner F. Apfel. Brigid retired from Horton Hospital in Middletown and was a member of the Irish American Club, German American Club, St. John's the Evangelist Church, Goshen and the Goshen Seniors. She loved to travel and enjoyed working on her house in Ireland with her children and grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were of playing sports in Ireland and of being involved with her children's sporting activities. She was an avid animal lover and had a great sense of humor.. Most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Werner F. Apfel at home; 4 children, Linda A. Apfel of Scarsdale, NY; Paul K. Apfel of Middletown, Michael W. Apfel and wife Therese of Middletown, and Karl T. Apfel and wife Sara of New York, NY; 5 grandchildren, Kathrynn, Rachel, Nolan, Mikaela and Rory; brothers-in-law, Karl Apfel and wife Louise of Germany, Joseph Bles and wife Maria of Germany, Herbert Apfel and wife Antoinia of Spain; sister-in-law, Giesala Karsunke of Germany; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the U.S., Germany and Ireland.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Patrick Moran, Frank Moran and Michael Moran; and her sister, Mary Ellen Walsh.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 24 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen,, NY.
Burial will be in Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY.
