Barbara J. Mielke, former owner of Orange Hollow Racquet and Fitness Club, Goshen, NY,
of Stuart, Florida passed away September 3, 2012 at home in Florida with her husband Paul Mielke and son Darrell Andersen by her side.
Barbara was the daughter of Horace Shields and Estelle Carter. She was the wife of Paul Mielke. Born in Bayridge, Brooklyn, NY
Barbara was a prominent local business owner for over 40 years. She was the former owner of Orange Hollow Racquet Club and Holland Electric Properties, both in Goshen, an avid golfer, a member of Goshen Chamber of Commerce, an avid yachtsman in the Caribbean. She enjoyed tennis, racquetball, and biking, was a world traveler, and loved painting.
She is survived by her beloved husband and friend for 39 years, Paul Mielke; son, Darrell R. Andersen; brother, Jay Shields and wife Roberta; brother-in-law, Bill and Carol Mielke; 3 granddaughters, Kaylee R. Andersen, Kimberly Pizza Clifton and Keri Pizza Meltzer; 6 great grandchildren, Hayden, Brody, Dylan, Cody, Briley and Ella.
She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Dayle Renna; and 2 sisters, Irene Lang and Helen Walsh.
Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2012 from 3-6 pm and Saturday, September 22 from 10-12 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with the funeral service in the funeral home at 12:00 noon.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations in Barbara's name may be made to Hospice Mayes Center for Hope, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
