VIRGINIA DAY August 23, 1924 - November 16, 2012 Goshen, NY Virginia (Freeman) Day, born on Staten Island on August 23, 1924, died suddenly on Friday, November 16, 2012, at her home in Goshen, New York. Originally from Staten Island, she was married to the love of her life, James Day for 47 years until his death in 1991. Active until the end, she worked up until this past June at Catholic Charities Early Learning Center in Goshen. Ginger loved having an audience for her jokes and stories, winning at bingo and anything Irish. In her youth, she and her sister, Pat, step-danced on a NYC radio program. She spent her last day on this earth at lunch with her friends having a great time. An avid knitter, many babies were warmed by the sweaters that she made, "With love by Ginger". She was a faithful member of St. John's parish and was predeceased by her mother and father, Mary Callahan Freeman and Patrick Freeman; her sisters, Margaret and Katherine and her brothers, John and Francis. She is survived by her daughters: Arlene Day of Saranac Lake, NY, Debbie Picciotto of Goshen, NY and Colleen Beem of Homestead, FL; her sister, Patricia; her sons-in-law, Richard Picciotto and David Beem; grandchildren: Stephen and Lisa Picciotto and James, Lauren and Jessica Beem. She will be greatly missed by her family and many, many friends. Visitation will be held at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY, on Monday, November 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, NY, on Tuesday, November 20, at 10 a.m. The burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family requests that, in memory of Ginger, you make someone laugh. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Donovan Funeral Home.
