GILBERT A. ARNE September 28, 1920 - April 13, 2013 Goshen, NY - Formerly of Staten Island, NY Gilbert A. Arne, 92, of Goshen, NY (formerly Staten Island, NY), passed away April 13, 2013 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick, NY. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn P. Arne, who died April 16, 1994. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 28, 1920 to Axil and Dagmar Arne. He and Evelyn raised their three children in Brooklyn and relocated to Otisville, NY in 1969. Gilbert was employed as a Seaman for over three decades on tugs and barges in New York City. He served his country for three years during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. Gilbert lived life to the fullest and got the most pleasure from his grandchildren, their spouses and great-grandchildren. He visited his ancestral home, Aland, with his close friend and cousin, Alice Haryn. He was active until the age of 91 and enjoyed being a Goshen resident for 11 years. He is survived by his children: Raymond and his partner, Therese Borras, Gayle Salatino and her husband, John, and Gary and his wife, Mary; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation and vigil service will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th at Donovan Funeral Home, located at 82 South Church Street, Goshen NY.
