Obituary of Jean B. McDonald

Jean McDonald, 89, Chester, NY passed away with her family surrounding her on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. Middletown, NY. Jean was born March 30, 1924 in New York, NY, the daughter of John and Catherine (Phelan) Kelly. Jean worked for The Columbus Trust Co. Bank in Newburgh, NY and later for the Department of Social Services in Goshen, NY as a case worker. She was a member of St. Columba Parish and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Columba. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jean Gallagher and husband Hugh of Goshen; their children, Catherine Gallagher of Buffalo, NY and Elizabeth Gallagher of Goshen; her treasured nieces and nephew, Joan B. Kelly, Patricia Kelly-Moody and husband Franklin and their daughter, Catherine, and John Kelly; loving foster son, James McKlosky and wife Melinda and their children, Brendan and Jonathan all of Clinton, NJ; sister, Barbara Mongelli of Kinnelon, NJ; sister-in-law, Joan Kelly of Cornwall; and her many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence McDonald in 1973; her son, James J. McDonald; her brother, John R. Kelly and her nephew, Paul Kelly. The family would like to thank Elant and ORMC for the professional and compassionate care that they gave to Mom. Visitation will be Sunday, August 4 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am on Monday, August 5 at St. Columba R. C. Church, 27 High St, Chester, NY. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date.
