WALTER J. MASON
MARCH 2, 1926 - JANUARY 28, 2009
Walter J. Mason, 82, of Campbell Hall, NY, formerly of Spring Valley, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Nyack Hospital, Nyack, NY.
Walter was born March 2, 1926 in Manhattan, NY the son of William and Ellen Mason. He was the widower of Mary O'Carroll Mason
Walter served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a Lieutenant for the NYPD, past director of the Spring Valley Little League, past director of St. Joseph's basketball, past Grand Knight of Mother Seaton Council-Spring Valley, a Eucharist Minister for St. Columba in Chester and a member of the Chester Golden Age.
He is survived by his 2 sons, William Mason and wife Elizabeth and Michael Mason and wife Jenny; 3 daughters, Patricia Murray, Maureen Chippetta and husband Dominick and Diane Roina and husband Robert; 7 grandchildren, Michael King and wife Heather, Matthew King and wife Nicole, Caroline Mason, Morgan and Kayla Mason and Courtney and James Roina; 2 great grandchildren, Jayden and Taylor King. He was predeceased by his wife Mary; brothers, William and Gibbons Mason and sister, Jane.
Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Columba R.C. Church in Chester with Father Curley officiating.
Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Walter's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or the Alzheimer's Association, NY Chapter, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Ste. 203, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
