Thomas J. Markiewicz, 66, of Goshen passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY.
Thomas was born on December 25, 1946 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Edward and the late Mary (Cahill) Markiewicz.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969. He worked as an electrician and retired from IBEW local 363, Harriman, NY after more than 30 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. John's Church in Goshen, NY. He was a member of the NRA and a life member of the Monroe-Chester Sportsman Club. He liked hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, classic cars, reading, world history, listening to music, playing games and playing with the family dog Toby.
Thomas is loved by many, especially his family and will be greatly missed. He was a devoted husband, loving father, caring uncle and great friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Susan Markiewicz at home; children: John Thomas Markiewicz and wife, Jen, David Joseph Markiewicz, Cathleen Mary Markiewicz and Elizabeth Ann Markiewicz all from Goshen; brothers: Edward Markiewicz and wife, Christine of Ticonderoga, NY and James Markiewicz of San Diego, CA; sisters: Joan Neccoechea and husband, Ron of North Chile, NY, Ellen Malecot and husband, Ron of Highland Falls, NY and Mary Wendling of Oneonta, NY; his Aunt Teresa Cahill of Oneonta, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 16th at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17th at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, NY. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
