Margaret V. "Peggy" Howard, 73, ofMiddletowndied Friday, March 7, 2014 atOrangeRegionalMedicalCenter,Middletown,NY.
Peggy was born November 9, 1940 inMiddletown,NY, the daughter of Ernest LeRoy and Mary Tina (Grimes) Howard.

Peg received her Associates degree from SUNY Orange; her Bachelor's and Master's degrees fromCollegeofSaint Rose. She began her career at the Orange County Department of Social Services, the Welfare Unit, worked as a social worker for Catholic Charities Family Service and Catholic Home Bureau, a psychiatric social worker atMiddletownStateHospital,Middletown,NY, and St. Cabrini Home inWest Park,NYhelping children in finding foster homes. Peg retired from the Orange County Department of Mental Health in 1991. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church, The list of agencies to which Peg has volunteered her time and talents to is extensive. It includes RECAP, FISH, and on the advisory board at Ostomy Association and Orange County Health Department, lecture at SUNY Orange and Ulster County Community College; foster Parent Education Programs and many more..
Peg is survived by loving cousins, Cindy Southern and husband Angelo, Jaye Shear and husband Rick, Lindsey and Courtney Steinwand; her "fur"ever companions, Mitty and Squirt; along with many loving friends who Peg considered her family.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 11 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc,82 South Church Street,Goshen,NY.
The Funeral Service will be held 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11 at St. James Episcopal Church, 1 St. James Pl., Goshen, NY with Father Carl officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
