Dear Dad, 44 years together is a very long time, yet it seems not nearly long enough. I want you to know you were never a burden to me, it was an honor to care for the man who cared for me for so long as i grew up.The memories i have of you are endless, as is my love for you! John Janes, I have only known you for a few years but I enjoyed every minute that we spent together. From all the stories you told me about yourself and your family, especially your daughter, Ann, I will always remember those special moments that we shared. I miss you very much John and you will be remembered for the rest of our lives.

Grandpa, I will miss you so much. I know you worried about me a lot, but there's no need. I will make you proud. I promise. I miss you so much already. You were always on my side, no matter what. I still miss going to George's together, you cooking spaghetti for me and putting on an Italian accent, pretending to be my waiter, Louis. I'm going to miss our long conversations about your life, and of course, our common interest in World War II. I'm sorry I didn't spend enough time with you. I love you so much Grandpa. Life's going to be so different now. I mean, I've lived with you for eleven years, I don't think I'll ever get used to not seeing you everyday. I'll miss you as long as I live, and I will always remember you as my wonderful, funny, and loving Grandpa.
