Gloria S. Barron, 71, of Campbell Hall, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at home.
Gloria was born January 28, 1943 in Windsor, VT, the daughter of Francis B. and Teresa (Jackson) Standish. She married Bruce Barron on August 19, 1961.
Gloria began her career with Orange County as Senior Stenographer for the Orange County Legislature for 8 years; became Director of Finance for the Department of Social Services; and later retired in 2007 from the Orange County Department of Mental Health as an Administrative Officer, where she worked for a total of 38 years. She was an Elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamptonburgh; Tutor for Literacy Volunteers of Orange and Sullivan Counties teaching English as a Second Language; Sunday School Teacher; Cub and Girl Scout Leader; and volunteered for AARP doing taxes for seniors.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Barron at home; parents, Francis and Teresa Standish; daughter, Diane Barron of Locust Grove, GA; sons, Jeffrey Barron of Goshen and Mark Barron and wife Amy of Southington, CT; brother, William "Bill" Standish and wife Linda; sisters, Frances "Jody" Hudson and husband Chuck, Carolyn "Jane" House and husband Ray, and Bevalie "Bev" Macfarland and husband Dave; 2 grandchildren, Braden and Ryan Barron of Southington, CT and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 15 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Hamptonburgh, Campbell Hall, NY with the Reverend Gary Fox officiating.
Burial will follow in Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY.
