Alfred P. Carroll, 85, of New Hampton, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. Alfred was born July 10, 1929 in New York, NY, the son of the late Patrick and Mary (O'Sullivan) Carroll. Alfred lost his first wife Margaret due to a tragic death in 1978, he later met his second wife Antoniette who brought joy and love back into his life. Alfred was a loving and caring father, who worked so hard and never gave up. He took care of his 3 children, especially his late daughter Nancy who was severely injured in the car accident that took his first wife, Margaret. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He retired from the New York City Police Department - Harbor Patrol where he spent most of his career. After retiring he organized and participated in Pall Bearing for many of the local funeral homes. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Middletown, Joseph Duelk, Jr., Ancient Oder of the Hibernians, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Washingtonville and a member of the Wallkill Senior Citizens Club. Alfred is survived by his son, Robert P. Carroll and wife, Debbie of New Hampton, NY; 7 grandchildren, Christopher Carroll, Crystal, Laurie, Patricia, and Shaun Flanagan, Dominick and Steffanie Carroll; 6 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, wives, Margaret Carroll and Antoinette Carroll, 2 daughters, LynnAnn Flannagan and Nancy Carroll and his brother, John Carroll Visitation will be Sunday, July 27 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, NY, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
