Filomena Anna Patruno-Lasaponara July 26, 1937 - Nov 27, 2014 Goshen, NY Filomena "Fil" a longtime resident passed away peacefully with her family around her, on November 27, 2014 at Valley View Nursing Home. She was 77 years of age. The daughter of the late Gaetano "Tom" Patruno & Isabella Lastella. She was born in Long Beach, Long Island, NY on July 27, 1937, with her family later moving to Middletown, NY. After getting married she resided in Goshen, NY until her passing. She is survived by her daughters Angela Ardizzone of New Hampton NY, Lisa A. Chutka & husband Walter of Pine Bush NY, son Anthony Lasaponara & wife Michele of Goshen NY. Brother Sam Patruno & wife Betty and her sister Josephine, of Florida. Grandchildren Alexandria, Salvatore, Isabella, Alea, Alyssa, Matthew & Michael. She is survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents Tom & Isabella Patruno, former husband Luigi and her beloved pets "Minnie", "Chino" & "Jake". She graduated from Middletown High School in 1955, also attended and graduated from Orange County Community College. She furthered her education by also attending SUNY New Paltz, Columbia University & NYU. After graduating from college, she worked for Radio Free Europe in NYC, the Times Herald Record, a devoted long-time teacher at St. John's School in Goshen, Director of Marketing & Advertising at Cable 6 &TimeWarner Cable, Development Director at John S. Burke Catholic High School, the Goshen Historic Track and a top notch Reporter & Photographer for the Goshen Independent always & forever "Photos by Fil". Fil belonged & donated her time to serve many organizations and was a member of the: Goshen Republican Committee, Member & Past President of the Downstream Property Owners, Organizer & Assisted with the Creation of Great-American Weekend & was a member of the Bicentennial Celebration Committee, Honorary Member of the Goshen Fire Dept., 30 plus year member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Genevieve Walsh #918 and is a devoted parishioner of St. John's Church in Goshen. She has been honored by many organizations over the years for her many contributions, to name a few the Goshen Fire Dept. Chester Fire Dept & Otterkill Fire Dept & GOVAC. She received the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, received the Bill Clinton Award - Mason's Award, Goshen Lion's Club Community Service Award, TCI Media Service Outstanding Sales Award and Appreciation award from Irish Heritage Festival. Fil always had one camera in hand and one around her neck, ready to capture that special moment to report. She has covered and reported monumental Political & Religious Events, numerous Fire Department and as many community Events as she could possible attend. On a personal note, Fil married Louie in 1962, they went on a two month European honeymoon, which she talked about with such excitement, like it was yesterday. They later had three children, Angela, Tony & Lisa. She is also the beloved grandmother, better known as "Nonna", to 7 wonderful grandchildren, Alexandria, Salvatore, Isabella, Alea, Alyssa, Matthew & Michael. She loved to cook, well known for her foggacio pizza, zucchini frittata, cream puffs, her italian cheesecake and don't forget her Sunday Sauce & homemade pastas. She enjoyed her music, playing the piano & french horn, growing flowers & vegetables, growing peonies & azaleas to towering heights. She was extremely proud of her Italian Heritage. Anyone who ever met Fil can attest to her warmth, grace & heartfelt devotion to her family, extended family, friends, the Goshen Fire Department and the Town & Village of Goshen. Her legacy will continue through all the lives she has so graciously touched. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30th, 2014 at Donovan's Funeral Home 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. Viewing Hours are from 1pm - 4pm and again from 6pm-8pm. Mass will be Monday, December 1st, 2014 at St. John's RC Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, NY at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Filomena's name to the Goshen Fire Dept or St. John's RC Church, Goshen.
