So sorry for your loss. I worked with Lillian at Mount Alverno in Warwick back in the mid 1990's. I was a new nurse and learned so much from her.She was a wonderful, caring nurse!

Dear Max - I only just learned of "Ms. Lillian's" passing - otherwise I'd be there to honor her. Seeing the two of you come through the doors at CRHC always brought a smile to my face. I'll miss our brief but always fun chats at check-in, her smile, and cheerful attitude. She was a woman of style, panache, and possessed of a generous heart and loving spirit. Max, please accept my most sincere condolences and share them with your family.

Butch - I remember at yours and Max's wedding, (I was rather emotional because I was missing Anita even more that day) when I looked at your and I saw you looking at Max with such love in your eyes. I heard Anita's voice say "Marie - let it go, its oaky." I immediately felt peace and am glad you and Max found each other. I will always remember the week we all spent together in Florida for little Max's first birthday. Sorry you and Max couldn't make the trip to Michigan as both Paul and I were looking forward to the visit. We will see each other again.

Forty-five years ago, my family was in a severe head-on car collision. Mrs. Varner (Butch) was my next door neighbor. She graciously volunteered to care for me (a kindergarten student) while my parents were hospitalized with severe injuries. I didn't know her very well at the time, but grew to love the song she sang to both me and her son John prior to going to sleep. To this day, I can still remember the beautiful comforting voice that sang me to sleep nightly. Mrs. Varner always sang "Me and My Teddy Bear." She truly was an angel. May she rest in peace knowing she has brought so much to the lives of many.

Max, I regret that I missed getting to know Butch but from what my brother, Bob, has told me, she was a wonderful lady and will be sorely missed. I am so sorry for the pain your are suffering. My husband and I have both lost spouses and can relate to what you are going through. Please know our prayers are with you. May God give you peace.

Lillian, "Butch" was like family to us and we are very thankful to have known her. We will cherish the Thanksgiving and Varner family gatherings with her. Our children always looked forward to the gingerbread houses and special cookie trays she brought for us. Butch will be greatly missed.

Butch, the last 16 years you have been a part of our life have been so special. You had such a kind heart and we had so many of your soft spoken assuring conversations. I don't believe anyone ever left your side without being cheered or encouraged. A hospice nurse deserves a special place in heaven and I am sure God has a special place for you. Our combined family has made so many happy memories and you will be in our hearts forever. You must have been a wonderful mother because you raised a wonderful son. Love, Lura and Larry

Lillian was a wonderful mother-in-law and grandmother. She was kind and thoughtful. I always thought that her hospice patients were lucky to have someone like Butch with them at the end. She was a very spiritual person who believed intensely in God. We were fortunate to have her with us for many years of adventures on Cape Cod, Thanksgivings and every one of my daughter, Alex's, school performances and birthdays. She will be greatly missed. We love you, Butch!
