Esther A. McCourtney, age 85, of Goshen died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Valley View Center For Nursing Care & Rehab in Goshen, NY.
Esther was born November 28, 1921 in Edenville, NY the daughter of Philip and Anna(Fischer) Schadt. She was married to John J. McCourtney.
She was employed by Goshen Central Schools as a Cook Manager. Esther was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 377 and special honorary member of the Dikeman Engine and Hose of Goshen.
She is survived by her husband: John J. McCourtney of Goshen; son, John A. McCourtney and wife Barbara of New Hampton; daughters, Nancy Fusco and husband Ronald of South Carolina, Monica Kalleberg and husband Harold of Goshen, Maryann Lauster and husband Hank of South Carolina; brother, George Schadt of Warwick, NY; 2 sisters, Bertha Kleveno of Pine Island, NY, Anna Henderson of Warwick, NY; 7 grandchildren, Melissa and John J. McCourtney, Kristopher, Scott and Ryan Kalleberg, Darryl and wife Kristin Lauster, and Neil Lauster, also several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff for their excellent care, and also Dr. Alvin Viray and Cheryl Menezes, ANP.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 2:00 4:00 and 7:00 9:00 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street in Goshen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 12:30 pm at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Murray Avenue in Goshen.
Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Goshen, NY
