Obituary of Frances Lo Palo

Frances Lo Palo, age 88, of, Goshen, NY, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York.
Born in Polizzi, Italy in 1919, she came to America with her parents, Santo and Josephine and her brothers, Joe, Madie and Charlie in 1921. She helped raise her younger siblings, Rose and Cesare and then went to work as a seamstress in the Garment District where she worked for 45 years. During that time she made many lifelong friends that became like family. She was raised on Beaver Street in Brooklyn, moved to Maspeth, Queens in 1961 and then retired to Clearwater Florida in 1989. In 2004 she moved to Goshen to be with family, especially her sister Rose. Holidays were a very special time for her, and she went all out to keep family traditions alive and her family close. She also always looked forward to spending time with family and friends at Lake Wallenpaupak in Pennsylvania.
She was employed by Strauber Brothers, New York, NY as a Seamstress.
A Family Statement: Aunt Fran was a second mother, grandmother and best friend to everyone in her family. She was Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Pied Piper to all her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be tremendously missed by all.
Frances is survived by her brother, Cesare LoPalo; sister, Rose Guarino; nieces, Patricia and husband Augie Traina, Mary-Jo Guarino; nephews, Louis and wife Kris LoPalo, Michael and wife Ann LoPalo, Matthew LoPalo, Robert and wife Donna LoPalo, Thomas and wife Gail Guarino, Sandy and wife Andrea Guarino, John Michael and wife Renee Guarino. She was predeceased by her parents, Santo and Josephine LoPalo and brothers, Joseph and wife Ida LoPalo, Matthew and wife Ann LoPalo and Charles LoPalo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Murray Avenue, Goshen. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
