Obituary of Vincent P. Sanok

Vincent (Vinny) P. Sanok, a lifetime area resident passed away Monday, June 4, 2007 at Valley View Center for Nursing Care & Rehabilitation in Goshen, NY under the care of Hospice and his family and friends. He was 61.
He was born January 3, 1946 in Campbell Hall, NY the son of the late George Sanok and Stella(Grzonka) Sanok.
Vinny was a disabled Vietnam War Veteran. After graduating from John S. Burke High School in Goshen, NY in 1965, he was drafted into the Army in 1966 by Local Board 16 Goshen, NY. He quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant. With continued diligence, he was accepted into Officer Candidate School in late 1966 and graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1967, thereupon, Lt. Sanok volunteered for two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Airmobile Division; the first division to receive the Presidential Unit Citation in Vietnam. In addition to other awards and commendations for Meritorious Service, Lt. Sanok received two Bronze Stars, one with an Oak Leaf Cluster (the Air Medal) and the Army Commendation Medal all in the service of his country.
Vinny was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Anthony and Michael Sanok and two sisters Josephine Jarocki and Mary Lupinski.
He is survived by his son Justin Sanok of Toms River, NJ; five sisters, Ceilia Rutkowski of Campbell Hall with whom he resided; Sophie Morgiewicz of Goshen, Rose Schultz, of Pine Island, Anna Sutherland of Campbell Hall, Stella Long of Los Vegas; and one brother George of Homosassa, FL; many nieces and nephews and two dear friends Charlie Fibel and Paul Rollo who were all with him in his time of need.
Prior to his illness, he was employed by Dicks Concrete in New Hampton, NY.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
