George J. Roscher, 81, of Florida, NY formerly of Brooklyn, died Friday, July 4, 2008 in Orange Regional Medical Center-Arden Hill Campus, Goshen, NY.
George was born June 13, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY.
Dearest husband of Catherine (Jean) (nee) Conroy, beloved father; of daughter, Cathy Hofmann (husband Ray) and son, Jim Roscher. Loving son of Agnes and Harry Roscher and brother of Genevieve Kuhn (all deceased) and uncle of Janet.
Dear brother-in-law of Anna Becker and Betty Roddy (deceased) and uncle to her children Scott and Beth and her beloved Tommy (deceased) and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country during World War II.
He was a 30 year veteran of the NYPD and was a member of the Emergency Service Unit (ESU). He belonged to the NYPD Holy Name Society and the Honor Legion. He was a third degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
His favorite hobbies were maintenance of his extensive military modeling collection (WW I specialization), reading (especially world history), listening to jazz music, watching American Movie Classics and spending time with his dear friends.
Georges happiest times were spent with his wife and dearest children, who he loved so very much.
Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2008 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, July 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Murray Ave., Goshen.
Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.
