My sympathies to friends and family for your loss with the passing of Dr. Loomis. He was, first, my teacher of Shakespeare and Chaucer courses, and for many years a friend, correspondent, and mentor. No doubt he is now happily reunited with Mary and his son Leo. God bless us all.

I enjoyed all my conversations with Richard immensely. He always left me feeling better. Our opera nights are especially treasured memories. Miss him already but feel good to think of him with Our Lord, the Blessed Mother, his dear wife, son, and mother.

I taught for forty years, he was an inspirational model for teaching literature. I will never forget him or his incomparable teaching style. He probably never knew how much he inspired others to teach, I never taught Lit. but his Canterbury Tales course was nothing short of incredible. Thank you, Dr. loomis, you made an impact. King's College 1961, History. He was one of the very best. Thank you, you made a difference in so many, many lives. You will be missed by those who knew you.
