Had to smile at Maureen Morrissey's memories of Rod with the band, because it was all so true, except Rod was with us way before I retired from the Ken Durland Big Band, and it became the N Y Swing Es change. Rod was so involved with the goings-on of the band, we kinda thought of him as the 19th member!! He dearly loved the big band sound, and we looked forward to seeing his smiling face wherever we performed. A real shining light to us and everyone else fortunate enough to spend time with him. I'm afraid the finale came too soon for you, Rod, but there are a ton of great musicians up there waiting to entertain you, so have a blast!!
