"My condolences to the Escobar family, Miky was my roommate at Pius. His energy and heart was my inspiration for going forth and living a good life despite the turbulents of our childhood. He was a very wise young man and liked by all that knew him.

I arrived at SP Monroe as a probationary trooper in March 1982. Mike and I were both regularly assigned to the same shift, and since we patrolled in two member cars from 11P to 7A, we're partners. We worked hard all night, while most others were in bed. Mike was a sentimental man, and I loved working with him. Just before Easter, he asked me, "have you seen the Easter egg tree?" I didn't know what he was talking about, so I said "no." So he drove to a house in our patrol area, and stopped, shining the spotlight on a tree all leaves gone, but every branch had plastic, colorful eggs hanging from it. Here we are, two state police partners, having made arrests just him and I, been to horrific accidents, but, as always, only he and I knew what we did overnight, and he took the time to pause and share this beautiful sight with me. Mike, I am sure I will see you again at the Resurection. While the camaraderie of state troopers is a given, only you and I know what we did and the conversations we shared. God rest your soul.
