Among the many talents for which Phil is remembered were his fine singing and speaking voice. He was a radio announcer at WALL, sang in the church choir and was a lay minister in later years. His books on harness racing are quoted in encyclopedias and his paintings were much sought after. He built the Hall of Fame of the Trotter into a first class museum and was cureator for many years. He was married to my sister France Stephenson and they had two lovely daughters. He had a keen sense of humor,was one of a kind and a gentle soul. We send our sympathy to his family.

Phil and I were friends from 1936 when he was 10 and I was 12. A long time friendship which I cherished ahs ended.

So sorry to hear of Uncle Phil's passing. I have such fond memories of going to Grand daddy's house in Goshen back when Uncle Phil still lived with them. He showed us around the race track and to Joe's Fix-It Shop. Visiting you all in Goshen will always be some of my favorite childhood memories.

Dear Friends: I have fond memories of working with Phil at the "Hall of Fame of the Trotter". Somehow we always made it through Race Week and other planned events. Also have memories of the "Chamber" days, getting the kids to chior practice and Mr. Wright's show practices plus meetings of the Park Association. My condolences to Phil's family, this coming from a friend of 60 years. Phil was one of the first Goshenites I met when I moved to Goshen July 1947. He was attending art school in the City and he'd stop to visit where I worked when he got off the train. The last time I met with him was at the Post Office where he teased about my working on a computer, then joking about the fact he left that kind of thing to his children and grandchildren. Have missed him since, and he will always be remembered with fondness and appreciation of the fact we had known each other all those years.
