What a band there must be in heaven and the shows going on there!!! No more words are needed for Paul, as he was the kindest, sweetest and most patient music teacher ever - and a fabulous husband and father to Phyla and the rest of the family. I knew Julie, David, Gail and Nadine as I went to school with them. Andrea and myself were deeply saddened to here of Paul's passing, but we know that Paul is directing that choir and my Mom and Dad, Ed & Marybeth McDermott are singing right along. He was truly blessed and a "blessing" to his family and many friends! May GOD Bless you all!!! Marianne McDermott, Andrea Guillot and Thom McDermott

I entered Princeton in June of 1945. My assigned roommate and I did not get along especially well, so I moved to Walker Hall when my second semester began in the fall of that year. I soon heard the sounds of a xylophone coming from a room downstairs in our entry. I went down, and met Paul E. Wright, from Preble, New York, back for his second year at Princeton.
We became close friends. We shared an interest in music. ( I play some bad party piano.) We managed to see, at minimal expense in those days, the great musicals of the time in New York City - Where's Charley?, Bloomer Girl, Carousel, Oklahoma, High Button Shoes, etc., and we went to the Metropolitan Opera and saw the whole Ring Cycle (in the cheap seats, behind the big post). You caught the 2:38 from Princeton Junction, got into Manhattan, went to Toffonetti's for the baked potato for dinner, and were off to the theatre - Paul ran everywhere, in the street, and I huffed to keep up.
Paul got me bickered into Court Club, where you could eat and socialize.
When Paul graduated in June of 1948, we went together to Washington, D.C., and did the sights for a couple of days.
I visited Preble every summer from 1946 through 1949 and got to know the whole family.
We have kept in touch ever since. Sadly, we have not seen each other much in recent years. I wish I had done better about that.

There is not much more I can add that has not already been said. Paul was a great friend to many of us. someone there for us, we learned from, who taught us well. someone who was there during rough times and during good times. I had the wonderful opportunity of working with him on many musicals. Either on stage, or behind the scenes helping with the sets. I cry when I think of him now and I will miss him terribly God bless all of you and God bless his family as well as Paul himself who is going to be sadly missed by many. We all love ya George!

My thoughts are with the Wright family as they celebrate the life of a truly wonderful teacher. Mr. Wright was the leader for our High School Chorus at Groton H.S. NY-in the 1950's. He was a true motivator-and we knew he loved his work. We all wanted to 'perform' for him. We all reflect warmly on Mr. Wright's effect on our love of music. In fact, just this past week, fellow classmate, Barry Vorhis, mentioned Mr. Wright and how he helped him get extra time in the music room!!! This is a true 'teacher'. The love of music being taught so everyone can enjoy.
Sincerely-Margaret Hopkins Hovanec

Very saddened to hear about Mr. Wright's passing. As a 4 year member of the Goshen High School Chorus and active in all the school plays- I have the best memories of Mr. Wright and his infinite patience and desire to make us alll love music as much as he did. He gave me the spot as "Anita" in "West Side Story" and it was truly life changing as he imparted so much confidence and trust that I could carry off that role. God bless and may you rest in peace, Mr. Wright. My sincere condolences to your family.

Sadness gives way to Joy when I think of the lives this remarkable man touched through his service to the community and his music. He never faltered in making me feel special as a singer at a very young age. I only had the pleasure of working with him 3 times, but what a joy it was. Blessings to his family during this transition. Mr. Wright now directs his next Choir, this time with the Angels. Rest well in the arms of heaven, kind Sir.

Dear Mr. Wright's Family, We will mourn the passing of Mr. Wright, but we celebrate all he left to so many of us. He was a great neighbor in the Park, put a song in our hearts, taught us to play piano, taught us the joy in music, gave us courage to stand in front of an audience and sing, gave us songs from church that we all memorized and sing to this day, was our choirmaster and teacher- who taught us that we can do it over and over again until it was perfect and gave us JOY. He was a man who led by example- a wonderful husband and father and also a friend. God needed a new Choirmaster to lead the realms of Angels in Song for Christmas. May you rest in Peace Mr. Wright and may your family know you will always hold a place in the hearts of thousands. Thank you for playing at my wedding and for all the love you gave so many. And to Mrs. Wright and family - May the memories you hold fill the void in your lives. God Bless each of you.
Consider yourselves each hugged.
